The 8-week build
For students who want depth — new grads with two months to test day, or anyone who wants the full build rather than the sprint. Two weeks per content family, an NGN bootcamp week, a full review week, and a 150-item capstone before a final taper. Our read on volume: roughly 40–60 practice items a day plus Study mode cards — about 60–90 focused minutes. Sustainable beats heroic; the plan is designed so you never burn out in week 5.
Client Needs weights: NCSBN, 2026 NCLEX-RN Test Plan (effective April 1, 2026). Daily volumes and pacing are our synthesis, labeled "Our read" throughout.
The eight weeks
Phase 1 — Safe and Effective Care Environment (weeks 1–2)
Week 1 — Management of Care: prioritization
- Days 1–3. The prioritization frameworks: ABCs, Maslow, acute/chronic, unstable/stable, new/old (Tutorial 3). Drill until the order of operations is automatic.
- Days 4–6. Advocacy, client rights, confidentiality, informed consent, ethics, referrals, continuity of care — the non-delegation half of Management of Care.
- Day 7. Review day: error log, weak-topic re-test.

Week 2 — Management of Care: delegation + Safety
- Days 8–10. Delegation and supervision: RN/LPN/UAP scope, the Five Rights of Delegation, "which assignment is inappropriate" items.
- Days 11–13. Safety and infection control: standard and transmission-based precautions, PPE, falls, restraints and seclusion, incident reporting, ergonomics, emergency response and disaster triage.
- Day 14 — Milestone 1: 75-item timed exam on Safe and Effective Care content. Review every miss the same day.
Phase 2 — The physiological heavy pair (weeks 3–4)
Week 3 — Pharmacology foundations
- Days 15–17. Medication administration safety and the rights of administration; dosage calculation every day (10 problems daily — calc is free points if you drill it); parenteral and IV therapy basics.
- Days 18–20. High-yield drug classes: adverse effects, contraindications, interactions, expected outcomes — learned as "what do you monitor and what do you teach," not as lists.
- Day 21. Review day.
Week 4 — Pharmacology depth + Basic Care and Comfort
- Days 22–24. Blood products and transfusion reactions; adverse-effect deep dives on the drug classes you missed most in week 3; patient teaching as the exam tests it.
- Days 25–27. Basic Care and Comfort: ADLs, nutrition and hydration, mobility and immobility, rest and sleep, elimination, comfort measures and pain management.
- Day 28 — Milestone 2: 75-item timed exam weighted to Pharmacology. Same debrief routine.
Phase 3 — Reading the client (weeks 5–6)
Week 5 — Reduction of Risk Potential
- Days 29–31. Laboratory values and diagnostics: what each test tells you, critical values, and what the nurse does about them.
- Days 32–34. Vital-sign interpretation, recognizing complications and changes in condition, therapeutic procedures and pre/post-procedure care.
- Day 35. Review day.
Week 6 — Physiological Adaptation
- Days 36–38. Fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base imbalances — the single highest-yield physiology cluster on the exam.
- Days 39–41. Medical emergencies, alterations in body systems, pathophysiology patterns, unexpected responses to therapies.
- Day 42 — Milestone 3: 75-item timed exam on Reduction of Risk + Physiological Adaptation. Debrief same day.
Phase 4 — Round out, drill NGN, peak (weeks 7–8)
Week 7 — Health Promotion + Psychosocial + NGN bootcamp
- Days 43–45. Growth and development across the lifespan, health screening, disease prevention, immunizations, antepartum/intrapartum/postpartum and newborn care, lifestyle and self-care teaching.
- Days 46–47. Psychosocial Integrity: therapeutic communication, coping and adaptation, crisis intervention, grief and loss, abuse and neglect, substance use disorders, spiritual and cultural care.
- Days 48–49 — NGN bootcamp. Bow-tie, trend, cloze, matrix, and SATA drills from Tutorial 2: untimed walkthroughs first, then folded into timed blocks.
Week 8 — Comprehensive review + capstone + taper
- Days 50–52. Full error-log review, weakest Client Needs areas first; re-test old misses from memory; dosage calc stays daily.
- Days 53–54 — Capstone: 150-item timed exam. Exam-day conditions: quiet room, scheduled break around the 2-hour mark, no phone. This is your full CAT simulation.
- Day 55. Capstone debrief with Nick — final remediation on whatever the capstone exposed.
- Day 56 — Taper. Light review only. Stop studying by dinner the night before your exam.
How the plan adapts
The plan above is the default route. Your actual route adjusts based on what Study mode and your practice blocks reveal — this is the loop Nick coaches:
- Study mode finds the weak topics. Daily sessions rank weakness by Client Needs area from your own answers — never anyone else's. Review the weak-topic list every Sunday.
- Nick re-weights the week. Tell Nick your weak areas (or paste milestone results) and he'll reshape the coming days: roughly a 60/40 split favoring weak areas in practice blocks, plus drop-in remediation sessions — targeted items, then re-test from memory the next day.
- Milestones gate the pace. Our read: if a milestone lands well under ~65%, add 2–3 remediation days on the weakest areas before advancing to the next phase. With eight weeks you can afford the detour — a plan that adapts beats a plan that's merely completed.
- Anything can be rebalanced on demand. The prompt pattern is: "Rebalance my week — my weakest topics are [X, Y]." Paste that to Nick any day and he'll re-draft your remaining days around it.

Short on time? The 4-week sprint covers the same ground in four heavy weeks with milestones at weeks 2 and 4. Same adaptive loop, faster pace.
